The year of light-holding and shining.
What is the best gift you can give a writer? a writing. It is 23:23. I am listening to Lecrae and Wande Ishola, of course, the plan was to listen to Asake’s Joha or Avicii’s the nights but I opened your youtube and Lecrae popped up, our pastor says we should quicken our spirits during this waiting period so I choose to which is exactly my point, the point of writing this.
I have seen people make tweet about how they want someone, their own person, someone they can tell anything about anything, for me that’s you. I love how we can talk about doctrines, and historical prophets, then move to how Burna boy and Ed Sheeran’s hold my hand is a better collaboration than Rema and Selena Gomez’s calm down, and end up talking about career, goal setting and the soothing shackles of capitalism, you are my person; your future lover and my future lover have to understand this.
When people ask why we are close, I say I don’t know, maybe because I can be my best self, my true and real self with you and tell you things like “I think burna boy’s different sizes is better than victony’s all power belongs to your bum bum”, I mean, who writes a lyric that crude, eeww!
Maybe it is because you helped me fetch water at Awo 108, and took me to the hospital when I had food poisoning, while health centre was being health centre. Maybe because you have been with me through Unilever, Taxaide, GE and Cowrywise with Ore, Ore, Bukunmi, Flower in between, or maybe because I see you, like you see me; awesome, mind-blowing and human 😊.
Maybe because you can ask me difficult questions like “why are you angry? what exactly is a big deal about this, why are you not saying no to that request? You know you are overwhelmed already” Why are you asking me about a work-related email on a Saturday morning, and I will nod, sobre in agreement.
Thank you for making me watch “Stranger things and Umbrella academy”, I don’t know how you sit through watching weird things like that when there is K-drama, but if I didn’t watch that, I wouldn’t have watched Ozark or have plans to watch Peaky blinders. Think about it, who else will I rant about Louis Litt with if we don't both rewatch Suits at every slightest chance.
Thank you for making me empty my savings to buy an iPhone, I mean, I will still buy Tecno Camon 19 when I have the money, but airdropping pictures surely feels good.
